Letters to the Editor

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

I really want to first say ‘Thank You’ to Eldon, David, Joel and all the rest of the wonderful people who are sending me The Bible Guys. It is really encouraging news and I really loved David’s testimony. That’s great.

Sounds like you’ve got some great preaching going on. I hope that David, Pastor McNabb, Joel and their wives will tell the people that I’m a friend and now a sister of yours and I hope and pray that God will really bless your family and the church. I hope that my enclosed testimony will help someone realize how much God can do and what He’s done for me.

My name is Karen Beech. I live in Shelbyville TN. I was in church when I was a child up until I was 17 years old. I have always loved the Lord, but I started drinking. I thought it was fun and you think you have all of these friends.

On was November 22, 1997, I was drinking beer all day and night like I had before. I left at 9:00 p.m. and was going home when I lost control of my truck. It flipped 5 to 6 times and I was thrown about 15 feet. I didn’t go through the windshield or back window. They really don’t know how I was thrown out except maybe through the driver’s side window.

I was life-flighted to Vanderbilt Hospital and admitted to the trauma unit. After 3 days, I was released and transported by ambulance to my mother’s house. I had been told at the hospital that I was putting on – that nothing was wrong with me.

Everyone knew better. When I arrived at my mother’s, all anyone could do was cry. I could not move at all without pain. Thanksgiving was the next day, and the family spent the holiday trying to comfort me. That night, I told my parents that I couldn’t stand the pain any longer and they called 9-1-1.

I was taken to the hospital and admitted. The next day they did a CT scan. They also performed other tests and took X-rays. It was discovered that my left hip was busted, my pelvis was broken and both shoulders were dislocated (although the right shoulder had relocated itself.)

I spent 2½ to 3 weeks in the hospital, and another week in a nursing home. By the time I was sent home, I had accepted Jesus into my heart and knew that he had forgiven me for my sins. I felt the Lord with me because he had saved my soul from hell and given me another chance at life.

Three months after my wreck, I saw the doctor because of pain in my neck. The X-rays showed that my neck had be broken in two places.

I started having surgeries: 1 in the front of my neck, 1 in the back of my neck, 3 on my shoulders, and I am still waiting for the hip operation. But, regardless of how bad it sounds, it was a lesson learned the hard way.

I thank God for it, because I haven’t had beer for almost 3 years. I now attend church with my son and we both love the Lord. I’m finally free of all that and I thank God for it.

I really hope this will touch someone however God sees fit. Please pray for me and my son to keep our faith strong. Thank you again. God bless you!

Love your friend & sister in Christ,

Karen
