Happy Thanksgiving dear friends, brothers and sisters! I can hardly believe that it is already the month of November and that we are so near to year's end. 2001 will most assuredly go down in history as a pivotal year in the social and political development of the world. The elements that will effect the persecution of God's people are developing and are well under way. Thank God for His comforting presence! Oh, how I love Him!

The cover this month features a picture from 1863 entitled "Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 1863." by by Thomas Nast, the most famous political cartoonist of the nineteenth century. Published in Harper's Weekly, December 5, 1863. Featured is an image of Columbia, a woman who appears frequently in Nast's work, representing all that is good and virtuous about America. She is kneeling at the "Union Altar," praying for peace. Around the main image are six smaller scenes of people praying: 1) Union soldiers 2) Washington and Lincoln; 3) Navy sailors; 4) Small-town church-goers; 5) Former slaves; and 6) Farmers. As I searched for an appropriate cover picture, I liked this one the best. I would like to thank Prints Old & Rare of Pacifica, CA for letting me use the picture. Their web site, www.printsoldandrare.com, catalogues their inventory of many exquisite prints for sale.

Only when on our knees will we, both individually and as a country, find the answers we seek and the grace to go on. Troublous times are here. The Lord said, "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place." (2 Chron. 7:14,15)

The president has asked us to "go on with life as usual." Isn't that what got us in trouble in the first place? Let's wake up, friends. God has given us space to repent.

I am grateful to God for His lovingkindness, patience and mercy. Let us seek His face and, on this Thanksgiving, join with our families, together thanking God for His grace and seeking His face.

The Grace of God be with you all. Amen.
