Yoga finds separation of Church and State exemption

By Yolanda Garcia

My daughter came home one day with a sheet of paper from school entitled, “The Perfect Student Fantasy.”  In it there were two subtitles: Background and Procedure.  In the Background there was an explanation of the practice they were going to have with the students.  Upon reading it, I felt very strongly that this was something that should have been brought to my attention before being  introduced to my child.  However, my daughter Brittany was never told that she should give this paper to me. I actually found it in her pants pocket before I threw them in the wash.

I couldn’t believe that this ungodly practice was introduced to Brittany at school.  My daughter had become a victim of what many Christians today are experiencing: not being allowed to pray in school, “for the sake of respecting other’s religions,” yet being taught an eastern religion as part of the school’s curriculum.  I asked Brittany to explain how they presented this to her and whether they actually practiced this procedure.  She explained that it was brought to school by a group of people from the “D.A.R.E.” program, which meets with the students every week to “teach” them drug awareness and violence prevention.

This procedure was read to the students by the teacher after being asked to sit in a comfortable position and close their eyes.  Some excerpts of this procedure: Close your eyes for a few minutes and relax.  ...As you breathe in, imagine yourself taking in all the most beautiful, wholesome, helpful, and good energy around you. ...Take another deep breath, breathing in the good around you. ...This time as you breathe out, feel yourself floating away.  Float away now to a place where you would really like to be.  When you get there just enjoy being there.  Now, while at this place, look into the sky and see the sun warm ... brilliant. ...Ask the sun to descend upon you making you feel very warm and very comfortable ... secure.  Notice how the sun warms you but doesn’t burn.  The sun seems very friendly today.  Now call the sun to enter your body through the top of your head.  See how it lightens you...

In 1 John 3, we’re taught to “believe not every spirit, but try (test) the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.  Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God.”

Taking John’s advice, I decided to research this false religion to familiarize myself more with these that deceive, knowing that if I can pinpoint their works then I can avoid them, as the Lord instructs us in his word. I’d rather not be simple-minded but wise.  I found this website: yogamovement.com, wherein they were introducing “Gaiam Yoga for Life.”

It revealed that they are subtly imposing this pagan religion on our children, hiding it behind vague and “harmless” terms, such as “guided imagery” and “anger management.

Gaiam Yoga for Life is supposedly designed to support and assist schools around the country to create a self-sustaining yoga program as part of their physical education curriculum.  Their declared aim is to expand the philosophy of yoga and holistic living into the teaching and school communities.  They have a vision with a strategy.  Their agenda is as follows:

• Develop a standard curriculum for a yoga program in collaboration with public school teachers, physical education specialists and internationally recognized yoga teachers.

• Identify visionary and innovative schools across the nation for possible implementation of the Gaiam Yoga for Life™ program.

• Provide curriculum, materials and resources to implement an in-school yoga program as part of the physical education program.

• Develop and oversee teacher training for school yoga teachers and assistants.

• Provide schools with the tools to maintain an ongoing yoga program.

• Offer a program to bring a holistic approach to teaching based on the principles of yoga to all schools.

Whatever happened to the “Basic Bible Principles,” upon which our country was founded?

Gaiam (pronounced “guy-um”), is a fusion of the words “Gaia,” for “mother Earth,” and “I am,” for “Self.”   Excuse me but doesn’t the Bible say that “I Am” is the name of Jehova God?  (Ex. 3:14)

I am totally appalled at how many Christians, so easily be deceived by these wolves, fail to see yoga’s harm. Yoga is a religion set up with their own philosophy, denoting a goal, how to reach that goal and what state you should be in once you have reached it.  They (Satan, the enemy of the soul) have now found a way to reach our children (right in our very own public school systems) and start de-programming them of all that we teach them at home.

This is just a portion of what they are trying to instill in our public education system:

Yoga is the ideal practice for children to help them develop into physically fit, healthy individuals. Yoga is a simple, practical and easily adaptable practice that can enhance a child’s potential for growth and development.

Many of yoga’s benefits are ideally suited for children. Yoga can help them maintain their natural flexibility, direct their energy, focus their creativity, develop concentration, manage stress and improve overall physical fitness. Learning deep, focused breathing, meditation and conscious relaxation are skills children can use the rest of their lives.

Rather than teaching children to compete with each other, yoga teaches children to access their own inner resources by helping them develop a mind-body connection. With this connection, they will be able to live their lives from a place of inner wholeness and balance, relying on themselves for strength, guidance and support throughout their lives. By teaching children to take responsibility for their own progress, they build self-esteem, pride and accomplishment in this and any other endeavor they undertake in school and life.

We can see how yoga teaches that we should be in tune with our “self.”  The word of God, however, clearly indicates that we should be in tune with the Spirit of God.  Let us be mindful and aware of what truly is taking place, lest we put our guard down.

Therefore, as the scripture proclaims, let us put on the full armor of God!  As it says, “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.  Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.  For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.  Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”  (Ephesians 6:10-13)
