The apostle Paul admonished us, "Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching" (Heb. 10:23-25).

Apparently, he believed that events would transpire that would declared the nearness of the return of our Lord.

This was not a new idea in Paul's day, but an undeniable, unchanging truth about the way God works. In Genesis 18:17, when the Lord was about to bring judgment on Sodom, He said, "Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do?" Why? As He said by the mouth of the prophet Amos, "Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets" (Amos 3:7).

Jesus rebuked the believers of His day, saying, "When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red. And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?" (Matt. 16:2,3). And again, He said, "If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes. For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side, And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation" (Luke 19:42-44).

We must not fall under the same condemnation. Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep.

Be sure to join us, either in person or in prayer, as we gather for The Feast of Ingathering Sept. 30 - Oct. 3, 2004. The Day of the Lord is at hand, let us gather together according to the Lord's commandment, that we might be a people prepared for the Lord. (Please contact us for more information about the Feast schedule and program.)

Seek the Lord, dear friends. Commit yourself to Christ, and pursue a relationship with Him, the living Lord. There is no friend like Jesus, and no other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
